In 1909 a group of protestants banded together in the east end of Hamilton, Ontario and decided to form a new orange lodge. There were already several lodges in the city, and another lodge raised few eyebrows. A warrant was applied for, and this was granted in 1910 allowing L.O.L. #2123 to become the newest orange lodge in Hamilton.
In 2010 L.O.L. #2123 will celebrate its centenary, and many activities are planned. We are now the sole surviving orange lodge in Hamilton, and just a decade or so ago the future looked very bleak as membership plummeted to just six. Today we are the second largest lodge in Ontario, and as we approach our centenary it is with a sense of great pride that the orange flame still burns brightly in Ontario's third largest city. A parade is planned in June of next year, which will be the first orange parade in Hamilton, should it go ahead, in over 30 years. A lapel badge was produced to mark the centenary, and sold out completely to bretheren around the world. It can be said that orangemen in Canada, Ulster, Scotland, England, Australia and the United States are proudly wearing our badge.
